November, November, the month of November. The month that star watchers hate

Well maybe not. But the fireworks, if your in the UK, may cause you a bit of nuisance at the beginning of the month. And sometimes the days around Guy Fawkes night. But while everyone else is celebrating NOT blowing up Parliament

 

4th November

The fourth brings us the delight of a new moon, and the lack of moonlight This also occurs while Uranus is in opposition. Which may provide a opportunity to get out the and view Uranus

 

5th November

Bonfire Night occurs on a Friday this year, so after enjoying a burger or hot dog, while cheering at the fireworks, hopefully, if your not working, the next day. And others in your neighbourhood, aren't celebrating too much

Then you may be able to spend some time, viewing some of the dimmer and distant objects that cannot usually be seen

 

7th November

The 67P – Churyumov-Gerasimenko comet can be viewed throughout November

You probally won't be able to see via the naked eye. You may be able to view through a pair a

To view find the Gemini constellation, in the area shown in the image. After about 10:30PM

 

10th November

If you are looking for an easy method to view Saturn without the use of a phone app, then the Conjunction of the Moon and Saturn occurs tonight which may may it easier to find

The image above, shows the location at just after sunset, at 6:30PM. Looking in a southerly direction

You won't be able to see both the Moon and Saturn with a

at the same time. But you can use the Moon to help you, find Saturn. And you may be able to use a pair of to get a view of both

After about 8:30PM, both objects will too low in the horizon to view

With the nights being darker now, and the event occuring early in the evening. It is ideal for those who want to improve their skills

 

17th November

The Leonid meteor shower reaches its peak tonight. But will require an early morning, to get a chance to view

The Leo constellation won't be viable until about 10:30PM the previous evening. Then the Leo constellation should be viable until about sunrise

The Leo constellation can be found in an easterly direction, the image shown, is taken from kstars and shows the view, at about 1:00 in the morning

The number of meteors is low, but is high enough for us to include, with a  

ZHR
ZHR Meaning

ZHR stands for Zenithal hourly rate. And is a calculation of how many meteors an observer may view per hour

However, this number will be reduced by things, such a clouds and light pollution

of about 15, which means you could see one about every 5 minutes if the conditions are ideal

 

19th November

The bringer of light, our nemesis. The Full Moon occurs tonight.

And while it tries to steal the show, from the rest of the universe. It is a great object to practice you astronomy and astrophotography skills on
